Every wild childhood begins with the same urgent task: survival. Yet nature raises its young in astonishingly different ways. Some are protected by devoted parents, extended families or entire communities. Others depend on a single parent, while many must face the world alone almost from the moment they are born.

Across thirteen themed episodes, Wild & Young follows two or three recurring young animals alongside a vivid cast of other species through the decisive first stages of life. From polar bear cubs emerging from snowy dens and wildebeest calves born in the midst of migration, to lion cubs learning the politics of the pride, kangaroo joeys carried across the desert and elephant calves guided by generations of family wisdom, every story reveals a different strategy for growing up.

They must learn to hunt, climb, swim, travel, evade predators and sometimes even navigate a world reshaped by humans. Combining intimate stories, remarkable behaviour and moments of humour, jeopardy and tenderness, Wild & Young captures the innocence and resilience of early life in the wild. However different their upbringing, every one of these young animals is born to survive.
